Eddie Kim is a contemporary artist whose works have a slightly fairytale-like quality, despite depicting real objects. The author achieves this effect through bright, yet somewhat pastel colors. For example, here: the Gooderham building seems to exist between fiction and reality, somewhat out of place in the landscape of a metropolis.
The Gooderham Building itself is located in the largest city in Canada - Toronto, and was built back in 1892. It is a historic office building, also known as the "flatiron building," which served as the headquarters of Gooderham & Worts Limited. The company was founded by the Gooderham family, who were involved in winemaking, banking, shipyards, railways, and wool farms. And it was this place that was chosen to create an office for managing affairs. At that time, the Gooderham Building was the most prestigious and expensive office in the city. It was last sold in 2005 for $2.2 million.
