Twip.me Help

Twip.me is getting twitter to your favorite IM client. You will receive all your friends’ updates and direct messages right in your IM window and you will also be able to send tweets or dms.

1. Our supported networks.

Our service is currently working on Yahoo Messenger, Windows Messenger and Jabber/Gtalk.
Our ID is twipme on all networks; when you register, you will be added as a friend.


2. Register with twip.me

  1. Complete the form from http://twit.me/#pair with your twitter username, twitter password and IM network and username. Click next.
  2. Choose a twip.me password. Click Go!
  3. On your IM client our robot (twipme) will add you, please accept and add it as well.
  4. On the next screen we will provide you with a string, eg. “v 9883e9”, send that on IM to twipme, so that we can verify your account. After you do that, click “Next” to enter Control Panel.
  5. You’re done, now you will receive updates on your IM and you will also be able to login on http://twip.me for your account settings.

3. Twipme commands

On IM you can interact with our robot with the following commands:

help - to get all available commands

t [status] - to twit this status
d [username] [message] - to dm that fellow twitter
d [username1,username2,username3,...] [message] - to mass dm
follow [username] - to follow that user
unfollow [username] - to unfollow the user
mute - to stop receiving friends updates
talk - to start receiving friends updates again
report [error] - to send an error report

recover - to recover your password for your control panel on http://twip.me

But if you want to make all this settings plus changing your twitter account or your IM account you can always login on http://twip.me and use your control panel.


4. Login on twip.me

Browse to http://twip.me, click on “Sign in for your control panel”, enter your twitter username or IM username (both work) and your twip.me password, hit “Login” and you are in.


5. Your control panel

After you login you can:
  1. Turn twitter updates on/off.
  2. Add/Change phone number to update your twitter status.
  3. Change your IM network and account.
  4. Change your twitter credentials or drop your account.
  5. Change your twip.me password.

a. Turn updates on/off

By turning updates off you won’t be disturbed by tweets on IM. You can also do the same thing by IM with commands talk and mute to twipme.

b. Add/Change phone number to update your twitter status

If you register your phone number with us you will be able to update on twitter and send dms from sms. We are currently offering a local Romanian number.
To register your number, complete that field with your number in international format (e.g. +40721345678) and send the requested validation string by sms to our number: +40 755 876 037.

To update your twitter status, just use the same procedure like on IM: t [status] or for direct messages: d [username] [message].

c. Change your IM network and account

If you want to receive updates on another IM account, you can change them right here, but you will need to accept add request on the other id and/or IM service, and copy/paste the validation string.

d. Change your twitter credentials or drop your account

You can always change your twitter account, so that you still receive updates on the selected IM id, but from a different twitter account.

If you choose to drop your account, then your twip.me account will be deleted.

e. Change your twip.me password

Changing your twip.me password involves changing the password you are logging in with on http://twip.me.


6. How to recover your twip.me password

If you loose your twip.me password, you can always request a new password on IM to our robot, twipme, by this command: recover .

After this, twipme will give you a new password, so you will be able to login on http://twip.me and change that temporary password.


7. How to tweet with us

We offer you 2 possibilites:

  1. Send a message on your IM to twipme in this format: t [status]
  2. Send an sms to +40 755 876 037 (you need to register your number first in control panel) in the same format: t [status]

8. How to send a DM to one or more friends

You can Mass DM like this: d [username1,username2,username3...] [message] (comma separated list, no spaces)


9. How to delete your twip.me account

By dropping your twitter account, you are out of here. But we hope to hear from you soon! :)
